Our mission

Treat every title like a film, not a row

Independent films get made every year with real craft behind them, and most of them disappear into folders, festival programs, and forgotten links. QNDB’s mission is simple: catalogue and present independent cinema with the same reverence normally reserved for major releases — posters, framing, and real ratings, not a spreadsheet of rows.

Discovery over search

We lead with curation, not a search box. The people who find QNDB most useful are the ones who didn’t know exactly what they were looking for — they came for one thing and left having found three more. A search bar is a fallback for people who already know the title they want; it’s not the front door.

Credibility is designed, not claimed

Honest ratings, visible curation, and restraint are what make a catalogue trustworthy. We don’t manufacture urgency or hype a title to get attention. When in doubt, quieter reads as more legitimate — and legitimacy is the entire point of a database like this one.

Warmth lives in the words

The visual system is dark and deliberately restrained. The human, welcoming part of QNDB comes from the copy, the empty states, and the way we talk about the films — not from softening the design underneath it.
